The refrigeration and air conditioning industry is a hidden giant employing tens of thousands of engineers who design, install, commission and service a wide range of refrigeration equipment. We could not live as we do today without refrigeration. It is used:

• For a wide range of medical applications, including the safe storage of dead bodies, medicines and blood

• To recover vapour, for example when filling petrol tankers
  

The industry currently faces many challenges including reducing its impact on the environment by improving energy efficiency of plant and reducing leakage of environmentally damaging refrigerants.
