Help Chill Society.
The refrigeration and air conditioning industry is a hidden giant employing tens of thousands of engineers who design, install, commission and service a wide range of refrigeration equipment. We could not live as we do today without refrigeration. It is used:
- To process and store food so it arrives in tip top condition
- To provide cooling for a wide range of processes from the manufacture of Lego bricks to the production of chip board
- For comfort cooling in buildings and vehicles
- To cool computers and communication equipment
- For a wide range of medical applications, including the safe storage of dead bodies, medicines and blood
- To dry air
- To recover vapour, for example when filling petrol tankers
The industry currently faces many challenges including reducing its impact on the environment by improving energy efficiency of plant and reducing leakage of environmentally damaging refrigerants.
