All refrigeration and air conditioning systems installed after May 2002 must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive. The requirements depend on the hazard category of the system – largely dependent on receiver size and maximum operating pressure. In essence most systems must now be CE marked to show compliance.
Cool Concerns Ltd has worked with many contractors and manufacturers so that they are supplying assemblies and complete systems which comply with the requirements of the PED.
For some customers we produce the design and technical files for each installation, thus allowing the client to spend time on other matters.
We submit a design type for approval with a unified body, and provide templates so that technical files can be easily produced for each installation. The aim of our PED service is to make it easier and quicker for you to comply with this regulation. |

This work typically includes:
Training sessions with staff so they are aware of the requirements of the PED and the best route to compliance;
Provision of the documentation templates necessary to demonstrate compliance;
Provision of design type approval where appropriate;
Recommendations for procedures, for example for purchasing;
Liaison with a PED notified body;
Brazer qualification advice and assessments;
Pressure testing procedure and provision of calibrated gauges. |
